Supersexxxed: Porn and Pop Culture

NOW-NYC hosts internationally acclaimed activist, scholar and social critic Gail Dines, author of Pornland: How Porn Has Hijacked Our Sexuality. Whether it’s film, television, music videos or magazine ads – you name it – our visual landscape has been “pornified.” Gail’s perspective on the industrialization of porn, now a $96 billion dollar industry, is not to be missed.  Join us for what promises to be an eye-opening conversation on how porn is changing our culture, relationships and sexuality.

Knight's narrative traces how Addams sought ways to put the ideals of democracy into action. Head to Heal: Yoga for Violence Survivors & Advocates

Every Wednesday at the NOW-NYC Office: 150 West 28th Street, Suite 304 (at 7th Avenue)
Head to Heal is a specialized yoga program for women seeking healing from violence. A 60 minute vinyasa class, followed by a 15-30 minute cool-down and discussion (optional) will be offered for survivors of violence, supporters, and those who work on their behalf. Classes are taught by volunteer certified yoga instructor, Rebecca Rafelson. Please call 212.627.9895 or email contact@nownyc.org for more information. 

No RSVP necessary.  Extra mats are available for use. Suggested donation $5 - $10.

With abortion access under threat in health care reform, soaring rates of on-the-job discrimination, and unbridled media sexism, NOW-NYC needs you to join our forces NOW. We need volunteers for phone-banking, community outreach, lobbying, and protesting.

Join one of our committees!  Our action committees on Reproductive Rights, Trafficking, Media, and Queer Advocacy will meet following the general meeting. All are welcome.
