Ten Things You Can Do With NOW-NYC and the NOW-NYC Service Fund
  to Advance Women & Girls  

1. Sign up to phone bank for equality. NOW-NYC holds regular phone banks the first Tuesday of every month from 5pm -7pm. Come for all or some of the time. Help us to educate members, fundraise, and get people involved. Get snacks too!

2. Become part of our Community Outreach Team. NOW-NYC is hitting the streets, and we need you to join us. Sign-up for our community outreach training and join us at street fairs and community events to help educate the public on the issues that matter to women!

3. Get yourself and your friends to learn more about the Reproductive Health Act in New York State and what you can do to help pass it. Get a group to join us for our monthly Reproductive Rights Project meetings, held the first Tuesday of every month, or sign-up to be part of our community outreach or lobbying forces.

4. Help us to get women better paying and more secure jobs through our new Doorwoman Project- Let us know if you've met a doorwoman or if you know of any candidates interested in the job! If you have a building board, ask them to consider hiring women for positions at the door.

5. Ask a cop what she or he has heard about sex-trafficking in New York City. We have new anti-trafficking laws, and we're collecting on-the-ground stories of how prepared cops on the front-lines really are to deal with this issue. 6. Watch your media with feminist glasses on. If you see a sexist ad on the subway or in a magazine, or if you hear biased commentary on the news or while indulging in reality TV, let us know! Submit items to our Bias Busters campaign by email or phone: contact@nownyc.org or 212.627.9895.

7. Make sure you and your friends become NOW-NYC members. Our numbers matter, and the more members we have, the more we ensure that our voices remain strong and powerful! And by joining through your local chapter, you can be sure that your dollars are being put directly into the work we do for the women and girls of New York! Visit our website and click Join!

8. Get active and get loud. If rallies, protest signs, and chants are your thing, sign up to be a part of our Mobilize NOW! team of activists. Let us know that you want to be on the frontlines for women's rights.

9. Volunteer to lobby with us. We need members from all over New York City to volunteer their time to meet legislators with us on important issues. This year, we'll be focused on choice. We'll provide the training and you'll gain the experience.

10. Join one of our Action Committees. We have groups working hard on the issues of Reproductive Rights, Human Trafficking, and Queer Advocacy and we're adding more! Action Committees meet in the evenings once a month and participate in activities and research between meetings. Learn more on our Action Committees page on our website.
