NOW-NYC supports a diversity of opinions and encourages all individuals to support the candidate of their choice in the upcoming presidential election. NOW-NYC president Sonia Ossorio says, "Senator Kennedy has been a tremendous friend to NOW and to the women's movement. This is such a pivotal election that there is going to be a difference of opinion about who is the best candidate; that is democracy at play. NOW's PAC has endorsed Hillary, because it believes she has the experience it will take to turn this country around."

National NOW's president, Kim Gandy, issued a similar statement yesterday "The National Organization for Women has enormous respect and admiration for Sen. Edward Kennedy (D- Mass.). For decades Sen. Kennedy has been a friend of NOW, and a leader and fighter for women's civil and reproductive rights, and his record shows that. Though the National Organization for Women Political Action Committee has proudly endorsed Sen. Hillary Clinton for president, we respect Sen. Kennedy's endorsement. We continue to encourage women everywhere to express their opinions and exercise their right to vote."

We hope that you recognize the ways in which NOW is working hard to advance women's rights. NOW-NYC has helped pass two critical pieces of state legislation in the past several years: a repeal of the statute of limitations on rape and the first-ever state anti-human trafficking law. And we are continuing our work on behalf of women's equality in New York City and beyond. If you have any comments related to the statement issued by the New York State chapter, please contact National NOW at 202.628.8669.

Thank you for your support,
Sonia Ossorio
President, NOW-NYC
