Help Pass the Reproductive Health Act in New York StateNew York can be a leader on reproductive rights, but we need your help to make it happen! States across the country are passing BIG restrictions on abortion, and we are seeing unprecedented threats to choice being proposed in Congress. New York has a strong record on choice, but we need to act now to protect our legacy of enabling women and their families to make the best choices for their health and lives. The Reproductive Health Act (S2844/A6112) has been reintroduced in 2011 and it will:
(1) affirm choice as a right in our state law,
(2) ensure that a woman can access abortion if her health is in danger,
(3) ensure that abortion is regulated as a matter of public health and not as an exception in our criminal code (as it currently stands), and
(4) affirm the right of individuals to choose or refuse contraception The bill has been introduced by State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins in the Senate and Assembly Member Deborah Glick and has been referred to committee. Contact your Reps today! It's easy.
