About the Women of Power & Influence Awards
Established in 1988, the National Organization for Women in New York City’s Women of Power & Influence Awards celebrates the achievements of extraordinary women in business, finance, entrepreneurship, law, politics and the arts.
Women of Power & Influence recipients have boldly forged their way to the top of their industry, many having broken barriers along the way. Whether the first woman partner at their law firm, the first woman trader on the floor, the first woman foreign correspondent for a major news organization, they all have made their mark as role models for the aspiring female professionals that have followed in their path.
Many New York luminaries participate in our event, which spotlights key women business leaders. The event is attended by 300 to 400 of New York City’s top business leaders from the world of finance and law, in addition to the support of many Fortune 500 companies.
The commonality shared by all of our honorees is a commitment to advancing women's opportunities, so that individual women can fulfill their potential and women can collectively advance professionally, economically and socially.
Our Awardee Alumnae Network is a well-established network made up of more than 50 top women business leaders and thinkers. The National Organization of Women facilitates networking with two yearly alumnae events and presentations on current issues of the day affecting women in business.
The proceeds from this annual gala event support NOW-NYC and The Service Fund of NOW-NYC in the critical work of advocating for and improving the lives of New York women and girls.
The Dinner Gala is held every June in New York City. Our event features a live and silent auction, entertainment, and a keynote address by an exciting and inspiring woman leader.
By celebrating our outstanding honorees, you are supporting the critical work of NOW-NYC and its charitable arm, the Service Fund, in advocating for the women and girls of New York City. As the largest chapter of NOW, we are on the frontlines—working to secure women’s economic empowerment and reproductive health, and end violence and discrimination against women. Your generosity ensures that we build on our strong record of making effective change for women and providing direct help for women in need.
